INFORMATION: Lithograph created by Chagall in 1962 for the portfolio "Stained Glass Windows of Jerusalem," published by Sauret. This portfolio traces Chagall's work on the twelve stained glass windows designed for the synagogue of the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.
Asher was the son of Jacob and one of the twelve children who formed the Tribes of Israel. He was the eighth son of Jacob, and the fifth son of Leah . According to the Bible, Asher was a man devoted to his family and his religion. His gentle and devoted nature earned him the nickname "the good."
