Kneeling Nude, c. 1900

On 14 x 14 cm paper at sight
Presented in a 26 x 26 cm wooden baguette frame

A Post-Impressionist artist, he is associated with the Pont-Aven school. He frequented Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, and Paul Cézanne.
His most radical works were produced during his youth, in the years 1887-1892, when he participated in the stylistic innovations of the late 19th century. His research into simplification
of form led him towards synthetism, then symbolism. From 1893, he gradually moved towards a return to classicism inspired by the old masters.
