INFORMATION: Created in 1905, this engraving was printed in a few proofs. No edition was produced. The publisher Ambroise Vollard had the copperplate scratched by Paul Fort. A few proofs, including this copy, were then produced from the scratched copperplate.
The Baer catalogue raisonné states: "The horse, the woman's head, the harlequin with the skull, the child's head, the cat, the nude and the seaside as well as the inscription "Planches de desins (sic) / de Max Jacob et / Picasso" are by Picasso. (...) the other elements are engraved by Max Jacob."
