INFORMATION: Lithograph created by Chagall in 1962 for the portfolio "Stained Glass Windows of Jerusalem," published by Sauret. This portfolio traces Chagall's work on the twelve stained glass windows designed for the synagogue of the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.
Gad is, in the Bible, the seventh son of Jacob and the first son of his wife Leah's servant, Zilpah: Leah, having found herself unable to bear children, gave Zilpah to Jacob as a wife, a common practice at the time.
